Why is it that people today are so focused on money? Yes, it looks like it makes life easier. However, I would argue it makes life harder. It makes us become the very hypocrites I am trying so desperately to expose. I never took money for teaching. My knowledge is a gift from God. Therefore I share it freely as he would. I hope people today can use their gifts for good and not require a fee for it. There is a time and place for making money because it is necessary. However, it can very easily become the root of pride and hypocrisy. Use your gifts to serve as well. Serve others as God has served you.
Good points, Socrates. I think we should be especially careful not to sit back and expect others to teach us (even if we are paying them to do so), for I, like you, believe that truth is inherent in the world, but it must be discovered. We should be actively seeking truth. So many other sophists teach knowledge, but not thinking, so I really appreciate your insight.
